If you know the treatment that you are requiring information about or even perhaps considering undertaking, see below for the main treatments offered by the Skin Cancer & Cosmetic Clinic where staff will be able to guide you through the selection of appropriate and optimal treatment to suit your needs.

Our treatments can be classified into three areas:

Cosmetic Medicine – for less invasive options.

Cosmetic Surgery

Laser & Light Based Treatments

Cosmetic Medicine

This is a specialised field of medicine, which involves using non-surgical techniques to help the patient achieve his or her desired cosmetic result. These may be their signs of skin aging such as lines, wrinkles, open pores, hyperpigmentation and broken capillaries or result of previous skin diseases such as acne scars, traumatic scars or chicken pox scars.

Our doctors are members of the Cosmetic Physicians Society of Australasia and have specific training in this field of medicine.

Laser & Light Based Treatments

Laser and light-based treatments use light energy to target chromophores located deep within the skin’s layer rather than the superficial layers, to either eliminate and/or reduce their appearance within the skin.

Laser and light-based treatment can help reduce fine lines and signs of aging – wrinkles and other facial aging, hair removal, blemishes and pigmentation, freckles, sun damage and sunspots,  redness and other conditions such as Rosacea and vascular problems.

Non-ablative Lasers & Light Based treatments

This is one of the most exciting part of our clinic treatments. It is the use of light or laser source to break down pigment particles, seal off little broken capillaries, shrink pore size, stimulate new collagen formation in the skin, treat acne & psoriasis, coagulate hair bulbs to give permanent hair reduction and treatment of leg veins. We use the state of the art laser, IPL technology in our clinic to give our patients the best possible results.

Ablative Laser Surgery

Ablative lasers such as carbon dioxide or erbium YAG laser is focused onto the lesion, removing epidermis and different amounts of deeper skin. This finely controlled treatment is a good option for lesions in small or narrow areas; it can be particularly effective for keratoses on the face and scalp, as well as actinic cheilitis on the lips. However, general anesthesia may be necessary, and some pigment loss can occur.

Fractional Laser Resurfacing

This has now replaced the old CO2 laser resurfacing procedure whereby only a fraction of the epidermis is ablated (using our Mixto fractional laser) and your normal surrounding skin heals the skin very quickly. It is the newest technology available now for skin tightening, treatment of acne scars and ironing out lines and wrinkles and now considered the gold standard for treating such conditions.

The Q-Switched Nd-YAG RevLite laser represents the most advanced laser for removal of black and multi-colored tattoos from the company that pioneered the technology. Unlike early methods that carried a high risk of scarring, were painful and not very effective, Q-Switched lasers greatly improved the process, allowing physicians to eliminate most tattoos with a high degree of success and very low risk of scarring. The Q-Switched Nd-YAG lasers that use PhotoAcoustic energy are gold standard lasers for tattoo removal.
