Microdermabrasion + Laser Treatments

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a painless procedure to reduce the appearance of white stretch marks. This procedure targets the upper layer of skin (epidermis), and works by stimulating the skin to tighten collagen and elastin fibers.

In the procedure, a diamond tipped wand with negative pressure suction glides over the affected area. The negative suction pressure increases blood flow to encourage new collagen formation while the exfoliation encourages turnover of cells on the surface of the skin to form a thicker healthier epidermis.

For effective results, microdermabrasion needs to be repeated over a period of time.

After the procedure, your skin may feel a little tight and dry. There may be some redness from the exfoliation which settles over 24hrs.

Though effective, this procedure isn’t guaranteed to fully remove stretch marks. The severity of your stretch marks will influence your results.

Nd Yag laser

Nd-Yag laser has the ability to penetrate deep into the skin to stimulate new collagen formation, non-ablative tightening of stretch marks and also targets haemoglobin to reduce redness of new stretch marks. The laser treatment is non-ablative, thus, there is no scabs or skin peeling after each treatment.

Erbium Yag fractional laser treatment

Erbium Yag fractional laser treatment a common treatment option to remove older white stretch marks or to cause blending in of newer pigmented/redder stretch marks.

In the procedure, lasers vaporise little micro holes in the affected skin triggering columns of skin contraction and new collagen regeneration.

Laser therapy treats on old white striae by inducing micro injury to the entire thickness of the epidermis stimulating healing and melanin production activating pigment cells in your skin. This causes your stretch marks to blend in with your normal skin tone. Though effective, laser therapy requires more than one session to notice results.

As there are a number of different laser therapies (and other procedures such as PRP, Microneedling etc etc) used to treat stretch marks and other skin issues, it is best to schedule an appointment with one of our doctors to assess your concerns before deciding on the best treatment option for you.
