Glycolic Acid Peels

Glycolic Acid Peels

Discover the beautifying effects of Glycolic Acid

Glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid naturally occurring in sugar cane. It penetrates the skin and loosens thickened surface layers that appear as dry, rough, scaling skin. As the uppermost layers are sloughed away, skin with a smoother texture and healthier appearance is revealed. Glycolic acid peels is also beneficial to patients with an acne problem.

Glycolic Acid Peel – the lunchtime peel

Known as the lunchtime peel as normally you can return to work straight after a peel. Your skin is washed with a glycolic acid cleanser to remove the grease, oils and make-up particles on the skin, then a layer of glycolic acid is swabed onto the facial skin. After 3 to 5 minutes, your skin is neutralised to end the peel.

Your skin may look a little red in certain areas and some slight swelling may occur for some individuals. A series of 6 weekly peels are usually performed or sometimes alternated with microdermabrasion. Most patients get it done once a month thereafter for maintenance of the soft glowing skin.
